# Requirements Management

### Overview

Requirements Management controls how scope is captured, reviewed, changed, and reported. A consistent lifecycle reduces rework and improves auditability.

### Key Concepts

* **Lifecycle**: status and review stages for requirements
* **Acceptance criteria**: objective conditions for validation
* **Traceability**: links to tasks, tests, and artifacts
* **Change control**: modification and rejection patterns that preserve context

### How It’s Used

Use this structure for weekly scope reviews. Use it for approval workflows and change control.

### Benefits

* Reduced rework from unclear scope
* Cleaner approvals through standardized review states
* Faster impact analysis through traceability

### Setup Steps

### Define statuses and meanings

Standardize requirement statuses across Projects. Use a small set of review states for approvals.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Standardize review views

Create shared Save Views for repeatable scope reviews.

### Define modification and rejection patterns

Use controlled change patterns to preserve context and downstream alignment.

* [Requirements Modification](/transformations/requirements-modification.md)
* [Requirements Rejection](/transformations/requirements-rejection.md)
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}

### Best Practices

* Require acceptance criteria for approval-ready requirements.
* Link tasks and tests to requirements early.
* Use Segments and Processes for reporting consistency.

### Summary

Requirements Management standardizes scope lifecycle and change control. Save Views and traceability support repeatable review and governance.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.transform.ai/transformations/requirements-management.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
